K&N Press Release – 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe Gets Performance Boost with K&N Performance Air Filter Upgrade!

May 9th, 2013 by Ernest Lo

K&N_33-2481

Hyundai has always produced solid, competent cars, however most new models come off like just another calculated move to keep pace with the competition. With the introduction of the 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 3.8-liter that all goes out the window. This Hyundai Genesis Coupe ranks as the second most powerful six-cylinder, rear-wheel-drive coupe in its class, and cynical gear-heads must now all agree that the Hyundai Genesis Coupe 3.8-liter is without a doubt the most interesting car that Hyundai produces.

First introduced three years ago from a shortened rear-wheel-drive sedan platform, Hyundai’s first Genesis Coupe was fun to drive, but it came up short on street sophistication and the base turbocharged four-banger was a tad under impressive. For 2013 Hyundai has given the coupe a striking facelift, featuring a handsomely revised body styling and improved interior materials, not to mention a new direct-injected version of the 3.8-liter V6.

Hyundai has improved the Genesis Coupe’s base 2.0-liter, port-injected four with a new twin-scroll turbocharger and a larger intercooler. Horsepower jumps from 210 to a vigorous 274. With its thoroughly efficient six-speed manual transmission the new coupe reaches 60 mph in 5.9 seconds, and covers the quarter-mile in 14.4 seconds.

Now, thanks to K&N‘s new 33-2481 high performance air filter, you can make Hyundai’s most interesting model even more exciting. By merely upgrading the OE air filter with a K&N 33-2481 reusable air filter, you can at once improve the overall performance of the new 3.8-liter mill, while also insuring excellent air filtration and engine protection.

Engineered to increase both horsepower and torque, and designed to simply drop into your existing factory air box, the K&N 33-2481 reusable air filter will be the last and only air filter you’ll ever need to buy for your 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe – plus you have K&N’s well-known Million Mile Limited Warranty to back that claim. It takes only minutes to remove the factory installed air filter and to replace it with the new K&N air filter upgrade and to experience the added performance benefits.

Depending on your driving conditions, servicing intervals can go up to 50,000 miles before cleaning is necessary, and cleaning the filter is as simple as following the four easy cleaning steps on a K&N Recharger Kit (part no. 99-5000).

DEI Press Release – DEI Introduces Titanium Pipe Shields with Evolutionary LR Fiber Technology!

May 8th, 2013 by Ernest Lo

DEI_010450

DEI‘s new Titanium Pipe Shield combines the high heat tolerance of proprietary LR fiber technology with a unique rivet-based clamp-on shield design to improve heat dissipation and cooling.  Where typical glass fiber shields can begin to fail at 900°F with the Mylar outer material cracking and flaking off, Titanium Pipe Shields provide heat protection up to 1350°F.

Constructed using our LR fiber technology, the outer layer is made from pulverized and stranded lava rock into a proprietary tightly woven weave for durability and strength. The inside material is made of a special high temperature resistant fabric (89% silica) designed to withstand 350 degrees more heat than glass fiber material. Our proprietary fiber technology combined with a unique shield standoff bracket design provides an air gap between the shield and pipe that together provides the maximum potential for cooling and heat dissipation.

Strategically placing a Titanium Pipe Shield near transmissions, brake lines, floorboards, body panels, diesel exhaust stacks or motorcycle pipes, radiant heat can be controlled for maximum protection and performance.  Other uses include isolated areas such as sections of the exhaust pipe after the collector, an area that can heat transmission fluid, or along the path of an exhaust system in proximity of gas tanks, differentials and rear fascia. Titanium Pipe Shields are designed for multiple automotive applications as well as marine, powersports, diesel and industrial uses where heat dissipation and thermal control is needed.

Progress Auto Press Release – More Cornering Speed and Control For the FR-S/BRZ Sport RWD Vehicles!

May 7th, 2013 by Ernest Lo

Progress_61.2135

The Progress Group has released a new Anti-sway bar system for the Scion FR-S and Subaru BRZ sport RWD vehicles.  These sway bars are a sport-tuned front & rear bar system, and offer flatter, faster cornering and more confidence-inspiring control. These larger alloy sway bars compliment wheel & tire upgrades, because more grip from upgraded tires also needs additional sway control to limit the traction-robbing “body roll” generated by the additional traction of improved tires.

The front sway bar is mandrel-bent solid 20.6mm (.812″) diameter alloy steel and features a fabricated steel non-adjustable bar end.  The front bar also includes OEM-replacement polyurethane bushings and synthetic grease for a trouble-free service life.

The mandrel-bent solid rear sway bar is 17.5mm (.688″) diameter and features a fabricated steel bar end with two adjustment settings.  The rear bar includes a unique and functional set of reinforcement brackets for the OEM chassis mounting points.  This is a known weak area of the sub-frame, and the special reinforcement brackets strengthen these points for the extra load generated by the larger sway bar during sport & aggressive track use. Replacement poly bushings and grease are included as well.

This bar set is designed for use with the OEM end links.  Both bars feature steel lateral locating rings for positive and immediate sway bar response and attractive metallic gray powder coating.

Megan Racing Press Release – 06-11 Honda Civic Gets New Rear Upper Camber Arms!

May 6th, 2013 by Ernest Lo

MeganRacing_MRS-HA-0611

Car alignment is absolutely crucial when modifying your car. Alignment can effect every aspect of your driving experience, from straight line stability, under steer, over steer, acceleration, braking and tire wear. Although stock components allow slight alignments from the stock suspension settings, they often are not able to properly align the car after the suspension has been modified. From the factory, most cars are set to have under-steer and for optimum tire wear at stock height; under-steer is often undesired from a performance standpoint and almost all performance driven applications are lowered.

Megan Racing Inc. has developed reinforced and adjustable control arms to accommodate the needs of the aggressive and performance oriented tuner. Being constructed of a Lightweight Steel-Alloy which is able to withstand the stresses of extreme competition, these arms are powder-coated with a 3-Stage process to ensure durability and protection against the elements.

These Rear Upper Camber-Arms are adjustable to fine tune your cars handling in the rear. When lowering a car, these will eliminate premature tire wear caused by the rear wheels riding upon the inside tread only.

AEM Press Release – Simple Power Add-on for Lexus IS350 3.5L and Lexus IS250 2.5L with AEM Cold Air Intakes!

May 3rd, 2013 by Ernest Lo

AEM_41-1402P

Lexus drivers are people that demand quality vehicles full of features and power. First introduced to the United States in 1989, the luxury vehicle division of Toyota Motor Corporation has a well earned reputation for incorporating the highest quality materials and craftsmanship into their manufacturing process. They call this process – The Pursuit of Perfection. It is that ongoing quest for excellence that converts drivers into Lexus evangelists, blissfully spreading the word of how remarkable it is to be a Lexus owner.

Two of the most talked about Lexus models are the IS250 and IS350. Revamped in 2006, the second-generation IS250 produces 204 horsepower at 6400 rpm. While the IS350 with its 3.5-liter V6 engine and redesigned exterior, weighs in at just over 300 horsepower. Both models once more have reclaimed their position as the yardstick for measuring the entry-level luxury sedan class.

Although both sedans list impressive horsepower numbers, Lexus owners have an easy option for more power and torque. AEM, like Lexus, continues their own pursuit for precision by focusing on regaining power lost through factory intake restriction with their Electronically Tuned Intake (ETI) technology.

AEM has two air intakes for 2006-2011 Lexus IS350 models with 3.5 liter engines. Part number 41-1402C has a tube with a gunmetal gray finish and 41-1402P has a tube with a chrome-like finish. These intakes are easy to install and they will add an estimated 11 horsepower at 4400 rpm to your IS350. 2006 to 2010 Lexus IS250 models with 2.5 liter engines get a power boost of an estimated 6.6 horsepower at 5900 rpm with AEM air intake part 41-1406C (gunmetal gray finish) or part 41-1406P (chrome-like finish).

AEM achieves these significant horsepower and torque gains by supplying the engine with cooler outside air and by designing the air intake system to restrict air less than the OEM intake. AEM also uses its revolutionary and fully integrated ETI module to adjust the vehicle’s MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor electronically. The ETI module optimizes the MAF as it sees denser power gaining air being fed into the engine.

These large increases in performance are coupled with exceptional engine protection. An AEM Dryflow air filter is included with these air intakes. It allows air to flow with less restriction than a typical paper air filter while it provides outstanding filtration.

AEM Dryflow air filters are easy to clean and reuse. These performance air filter elements can perform for up to 100,000 miles, depending on driving conditions. When servicing is needed, AEM’s synthetic cleaner (part 1-1000) is used to quickly dissolve dirt then a rinse with water washes the dirt away. Once dry it is ready to use again.

AEM’s Lexus IS350 air intakes 41-1402C and 41-1402P, along with AEM’s Lexus IS250 air intakes 41-1406C and 41-1406P come with a heat shield to block hot engine air. The intakes also come with a fitting on the tube for connecting your existing PCV hose.

K&N Press Release – 11-13 Hyundai Veloster Gets More Horsepower from High Performance Air Intake System!

May 2nd, 2013 by Ernest Lo

K&N_69-5304TS

Have you ever wondered what a 3-door, no wait, a 4-door hatchback back from one of the fastest growing car manufacturers in the world would look like? Well look no further than the sporty 2012 and 2013 Hyundai Veloster with 1.6 liter engine. You can’t help but smile while looking at the grill that just grins right back at you. From its sporty design to its functional layout, the Hyundai Veloster is an all-around well designed hatchback. Its peppy 1.6 liter, 138 horsepower motor gives it enough get up and go to make driving fun on the highway or through some nice twisty roads. But with nearly every vehicle owner, more power is always nice. K&N agrees and that is why they offer Hyundai Veloster owners a simple fix: a high performance air intake system 69-5304TS.

K&N 69-5304TS air intake system is designed around three basic premises; ease of installation, quality of materials and, and of course more horsepower. Veloster owners can rejoice in knowing that K&N’s intake system is made from durable aluminum tubing with a just-as-durable Silver powder coated finish. The 69-5304TS was designed to reduce air restriction using Computational Fluid Dynamics software. It has been dyno tested to establish an estimated increase of horsepower. With an estimated jump of 6.4 horsepower at 6400 RPM and 5.4 lb.-ft. of torque at 4200 RPM, K&N’s performance intake 69-5304TS breathes new life into the Veloster’s 1.6 liter motor.

The 69-5304TS performance air intake system uses the factory mounting points so no modifications to the Hyundai Veloster is needed. Simply remove the stock, restrictive intake system and install K&N’s high performance air intake system following the easy to read installation instructions. K&N’s Hyundai Veloster air intake provides a connection on the tube for the factory crankcase vent hose and uses a heat shield so cooler outside air enters the engine.

A washable and reusable performance air filter (part RU-4600) comes ready to install and provides excellent filtration while allowing plenty of air to flow into the starving motor. Good for up to 100,000 miles before cleaning, depending on driving conditions, K&N’s RU-4600 performance air filter is a tough act to beat! But what if your driving conditions are much dirtier than normal? K&N has the solution to this problem also, with the optional 22-8036PK air filter wrap. K&N 22-8036PK PreCharger filter wrap helps extend the service life of the filter by capturing and blocking larger dirt particles while adding minimal restriction to the air flow into the filter. It’s a win-win combination!

The best part about K&N air intake 69-5304TS, besides the horsepower increase, is that the whole high performance intake system is backed by K&N’s industry leading Million Mile Limited Warranty. In other words, this is the last air intake system your Hyundai Veloster will ever need.
