Stop Motion Engine Rebuild Video

August 10th, 2015 by Kyle West

Pretty awesome stop-motion video of an old engine being rebuilt. I doubt it makes a ton of horsepower, but it’s fun to watch nonetheless.

If the video embed doesn’t work, check out 11 Months, 3000 pictures and a lot of coffee on YouTube.

A “Real” Movie about Racing

April 23rd, 2013 by Kyle West

When I tell people what I do for a living and their response is “so like Fast and the Furious” I always cringe a little. Hollywood hasn’t been the best friend to our industry, the list of crappy racing movies is much longer than the list of great ones. There’s hope though. This September, Ron Howard may put one in the winners circle with Rush (trailer below).

But first, here’s a couple notable picks from yours truly: Read the rest of this entry »

Formula Drift: The Grassroots Racers

June 29th, 2012 by Kyle West

Every grassroots racer should be able to relate to the guys in this video. Luckily someone with a ton of talent shoved a camera in their face and documented it – beautifully.

Of course, these lessons apply to more than just babbling about cars day in and day out. Just ask the guys of Formula Drift. We’re not talking about big names like Tanner Foust, Vaughn Gittin Jr. or Sam Hubinette. No, those guys have made it. They’re living or have lived the life of sponsorship deals and rampant success. For the rest of the field, making it to the next event means scraping pennies, taking crap jobs and yes, lots of hard work. Check out the awesome video below by 1Kind Studio to see what we mean.Zach Bowman, Autoblog

BMW M5 Bullet

June 26th, 2012 by Kyle West

The best YouTube video I have seen all year. The new M5 should be hitting your local dealer’s inventory this month. Go see if you can take it out on a test drive like this.

Video: Evans Tuning 8-Second Pass and Wreck

November 10th, 2011 by Kyle West

Long time Honda tuner Jeff Evans managed to do two extraordinary things this weekend: (1) pilot his 950HP Integra to a class record 8.98 @ 167MPH, and (2) walk away from a wreck at close to that speed.

Autoblog has more details on the crash and Evans Tuning has more details on the car.

First Time Ever: Helmet Cam F1 Lap

October 21st, 2011 by Kyle West

Formula1 is my motorsport of choice. The technology packed into those cars is absolutely amazing. Their performance, nothing short of breathtaking. Since my chances of rubbing wheels with Jean Girard are slim at best, I have to settle with living vicariously through videos like this:

SmugMug Just Got A Whole Lot Cooler

April 26th, 2008 by Kyle West

I’ve a big fan of the SmugMug photo sharing site and things just got a whole lot cooler over there. They just released absolutely, hands down the best online flash video player available. Don’t believe me? Check out the quality of this video.

Hats off to Don and the rest of the Smugmuggers!

Formula Drift Featured on Mahalo Daily

April 15th, 2008 by Kyle West

Mahalo is a search engine powered not by computers but by people. They are trying to take on Google, Yahoo and the likes. I don’t think they have a shot in hell, but they do have a daily video cast that I somewhat pay attention to. Today’s show featured formula D. Check it out.
