v1.9.3 – Shopping Experience Enhancements – You're Going to Make More Money – Video Overview Included

January 19th, 2009 by Kyle West

We just pushed v1.9.3 live and we’re super excited to deliver some incredible enhancements to the shopping experience. We’ll get to those but first some housekeeping.

This release fixed a couple bugs (thanks for the reports, keep them coming).

  • Some of you still couldn’t see all your files in the file manager. We updated some code and this should never be an issue again.
  • When setting discounts in the admin Msrp, Jobber and Map were all shown even if that brand/group/item didn’t have that pricing available. Now only available price types are shown.
  • Discounts set to 100% showed Msrp. Now “Please contact us for pricing” will be shown.
  • Some discounts were causing errors when calculating pricing. This has been fixed.

Now, for the enhancements!

If you’d rather not read I put together a quick (5 minutes) video highlighting the enhancements.

RPMWare v1.9.3 Enhancements Preview from RPMWare on Vimeo.

In previous versions when a visitor clicked into a product group with only one item the visitor would have to click the item before they could add the item to their cart. This two-step process was inefficient and unnecessary. In v1.9.3 product groups with only one item will automatically redirect to the item page (1 click) when a visitor selects the product group.

We’ve dramatically simplified the browsing experience when a vehicle is not selected.

Before every fitment and item was shown on the product group page causing confusion and information overload.

Now, only fitment information is shown on the product group page making it much easier to select the fitment you’re after.

Additionally, other items in the same group with the same fitment are shown on the item detail page.

This is huge for presenting several product options with different sizes, colors, options, whatever. Instead of hitting “back” to return to the product group page and check out the other items your customers have access all the items that will fit their vehicle right from the item page.

These enhancements will boost your conversion rate and you will make more money as a result. We not done though, actually just starting. Please keep your feedback coming. We’d love to hear what you think and how we could make this even better.

Formula 1 Launches Video Site

April 30th, 2008 by Kyle West

I’m a huge Formula 1 fan so any extra coverage is a huge plus in my book. The Official Formula 1 website just launched a new video section. They have quick (2-3 minute) recaps of all the 2008 races. Thanks for the tip UXMag.

Formula Drift Featured on Mahalo Daily

April 15th, 2008 by Kyle West

Mahalo is a search engine powered not by computers but by people. They are trying to take on Google, Yahoo and the likes. I don’t think they have a shot in hell, but they do have a daily video cast that I somewhat pay attention to. Today’s show featured formula D. Check it out.

Hey Guys,

This first of the RPMWare Tutorial Videos have been uploaded to YouTube. Now, most of you may not have an immediate need for these – but refresher courses never hurt anyone. =)

A walk thru on the Product Manager and the Set Active Status & Discounts area of the Admin are the first two how-to videos, and more will follow shortly. As we add new features, be sure to check the RPMWare Channel on YouTube for support videos.

Looks likes our friends at Mitsubishi are putting the finishing touches on the new Evolution X. Let’s keep our fingers crossed this will be everything the Evo VII/IX was and more. So far, it looks good.
